Last Sunday, Scott and I decided to spend the day in the mountains with the girls. While riding around Greenville, Hayley has become quite good at spotting the mountains from a distance on clear days and has been asking for us to take her there. We are so blessed to be able to drive to beautiful mountains in just an hour and what a perfect time of year to go? We drove toward Caesar's Head and found a great spot near an overlook for our picnic. We promised the girls that we could go see some waterfalls, too. However, we became a little discouraged when we discovered that the waterfalls on our map were 2 mile hikes and further. We knew this would not work with a two year old. Luckily, we spotted some friends of ours from Greenville who knew about several waterfalls that were much more manageable to get to. We were able to take about a 1/4 mile hike and see two beautiful waterfalls called Hooker Falls and Triple Falls. The girls were happy just strolling through the woods and discovering creeks, rocks, and leaves. Who needs toys?? They were excited when the walking trail had a surprise at the end...a waterfall! We took time to talk about how God has blessed us with beautiful places in nature to enjoy with our family. Hayley and Ella continue to ask me, "When are we going back to the mountains?" It was such a treat to escape for a day!
