Hayley Loses Her First Tooth!

Well, it finally happened. Hayley lost her first tooth! Yet another sign that my sweet baby girl is growing up! One morning when I was doing her hair, I noticed one tooth on the bottom was out of line and a little loose. When I announced, "You have a loose tooth!" her face lit up. Hayley immediately called her grandmothers about the exciting news. She began to ask each day when it would come out. I kept explaining that you just never know, it could be weeks. After several weeks of waiting, I felt it was loose enough for me to pull it. I was surprised that Hayley had no problem with me pulling her tooth. It popped right out very easily, and I will never forget that look on her face when she said, "I just lost my tooth!" as if she was trying to convince herself. I have pulled many teeth of many kindergartners and second graders in my old teaching days, but this one was much more special! Hayley was bubbling with excitement, I thought we would never get her to bed. During bedtime, her "wheels" began turning and suddenly she wasn't so comfortable with the Tooth Fairy coming IN her room. After much thought and discussion, I convinced her to tape it to the outside of her bedroom door. She was excited to show me the next morning that she got a five dollar bill under her pillow. What an exciting milestone!
