Snow Tubing at Hawksnest

Last Sunday, we took the girls snow tubing at Hawksnest in North Carolina. We promised the girls that if it didn't snow at our house this winter, then we would take them to the mountains to see snow. We were a little concerned about the rainy weather, but decided to trust the forcast for NC mountains that it was going to snow...and boy did it! The girls loved seeing real snow and enjoyed just playing in it, eating it, making snow angels, and throwing snowballs. The tubing runs were a little slow due to the natural snowy conditions...who knew real snow isn't good for tubing!? We all had a great time anyway, and Scott and I were able to get LOTS of excercise pulling and pushing the girls on their tubes when they would slow down. The car ride back home was a little tricky on the snow covered mountain roads. Unfortunately, the roads were not plowed or sanded like we assumed. It was difficult and at times a little scary coming down the mountain, but we made it back home safely. Good thing Scott was driving and not me! Ironically as we got closer to home, it began snowing at our house too! Go figure!
