First Day of School

Boy, summer has flown by! I can't believe another school year has already begun! Yesterday was the first day of school for both Hayley and Ella. They were both so excited to begin a new school year. Hayley is in first grade this year. She is in a "multiage" class which is a combination of first graders and second graders and two teachers. This is a unique type of classroom that our school offers and has been successful for students like Hayley. She loves her teachers and already knows familiar faces in her class. I am so lucky to have her at my school, and I love being able to check on her and say hello when I want to. She had a great first day going to music (her favorite classes are the related arts classes) and playing on the "big" playground! She even earned a homework pass for good behavior! yippee!

Ella began her last year of Southside Christian School in 4K. She is going three days a week again this year. I love having time with her home with me on the other two days of the week. Ella has Mrs. Peek this year who is a wonderful teacher. I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Peek last year since we both serve on the board of Let There Be Mom, a nonprofit organization. I was excited for Ella to get to be in her classroom this year. Ella had a great first day of school as well. She enjoyed seeing her old classmates on the playground, eating snack, and being the line leader! She said her favorite part of the day was going to the library where they listen to stories.

I feel so fortunate that both of my children love school and have a love for learning! What more could a mother/teacher ask for? I am thankful that they are comfortable in their new classrooms and already making friends. Looks like it's going to be another great school year!

Ready for first grade and 4K!
