We had a great week off from school for Spring Break! I began my break with a weekend in Charleston with Scott, my sister, and her husband for the Cooper River Bridge Run. We really look forward to spending time with Shayla and Tod (especially when our kids aren't around and we can have some "adult time!") The night before the race, we met up with my college roommate, Jennifer, and enjoyed a "carb loading," yummy meal at Bocci's. We woke up early the next morning for the race. It was the second time we have run the Bridge Run which is a 10K (6.2 miles) over the bridge. We all finished and were pleased with our results despite the crowd! The rest of the day, we relaxed and enjoyed the food in Charleston. We were even able to hang out with our friends from Greenville, Bill and Ashley, who also run the race each year. We are looking to make this a yearly tradition!
After Charleston, Scott and I went to Savannah, GA to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It was nice to be able to spend some quality, alone time together since it seems we don't get much of that these days :) We were able to walk around Savannah and eat some really delicious meals. The highlight of our trip was eating at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House which was well worth the long wait. It was yummy, southern cookin' that was served family style.
Shayla and her two boys visited Greenville for a few days of their spring break. We were able to spend some time letting the four cousins play together. Boy, do they enjoy their time together! It's so interesting watching the four play together and the bonds between them. It's surprising to us how well Jackson (almost 8 years old) and Ella (3 years old) get along. Jackson is really good at entertaining Ella and making her laugh. Ella just loves her big cousin Jackson. Austin and Hayley are like an old married couple. Being only 6 weeks apart in age, they really connect. Hayley always looks forward to her time with Austin. At times, they are inseparable. We often have to remind them that they can't marry each other when they grow up since they are related! :)
Sweet cousins enjoying a day at the zoo!
Our break ended with Easter. Here are some highlights from our special Easter holiday.Getting ready for dye Easter Eggs
